Viridiant

Viridiant (formerly known as EarthCraft) is a non-profit organization that sets a path for sustainable, affordable, energy-efficient construction. Its role as Virginia’s leading green-building verification consultants has helped tens of thousands homeowners and tenants throughout the Commonwealth lower their overall energy costs. Mark has served on Viridiant’s Board of Directors since 2020 and is also a member of the Development Committee.

project:HOMES

project:HOMES helps qualifying households stay in their homes comfortably, safely and affordably.  In some cases, a person may prefer to live in one of project:HOMES’ five signature affordable apartment communities, or in one of their newly constructed affordable houses.  project:HOMES is devoted to improving lives and living conditions through a variety of home sales, repair, and weatherization services as well as the development of affordable multifamily senior housing. Mark served on their board for nine years, two as board chair, and now includes them as a consulting client providing assistance with their affordable housing portfolio.

RICHMOND REGION ENERGY ALLIANCE 

The Richmond Region Energy Alliance (RREA) was a non-profit established by a grant from the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME) in 2010 to help facilitate end-user energy conservation in Central Virginia. Its mission was to sustain a regional framework to create awareness, break down barriers and coordinate access to resources in order make living spaces healthier and more comfortable. Mark served on the Board of Directors and the Strategic Planning committee, then transitioned to the Viridiant board after RREA was absorbed into it in 2020.

WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1749, Washington & Lee University is named for two of the most influential men in American history: George Washington and Robert E. Lee. It is the ninth oldest institution of higher learning in the nation, and consistently ranks among the country’s top liberal arts colleges. As a Washington & Lee alumnus, Mark has served as a board member of the Alumni Admissions Program, President of the Richmond Chapter, and Class Agent for the undergraduate class of 1986.

YMCA

The Young Men's Christian Association arrived in Richmond in 1854. Today, it is a family-oriented institution welcoming all to develop their spiritual, mental, and physical gifts. The YMCA of Greater Richmond has offered lasting benefits to the city and communities it serves. Mark has been involved in the youth athletics and activities through the local YMCA having coached co-ed basketball, and served as Nation's Chief in the Y-Guides program.
